There has been an election called in Canada.

Russian disinformation started up as soon as Mark Carney was elected as the liberal leader:

It is getting easier to tell which "Canadians" are in bed with the Russians:

They are attacking his wife for being ugly, and his kid for being queer.

Meanwhile, our national intelligence service just clarified that the redacted report that India influenced a major party's leadership campaign in favour of the winning candidate during the precise time frame that the Conservative Party ran their leadership campaign was referring to the Conservative Party's leadership campaign. Which Pierre Poilievre won.

It explains why he refuses to attempt to qualify for a security clearance.

Not content to benefit from foreign influence from India, Poilievre is adamant that it is within the rights of his friends to invite US interference:

Poilievre has doubled down.

Everything he says about his lack of security clearance is a lie.

The most logical conclusion seems to be that he may be personally compromised, not just an unwitting beneficiary of meddling in his leadership campaign.

Remaining committed to "speaking freely" about topics on which he is wilfully ignorant is an incredibly stupid position.

The polls indicate that the Conservatives have lost their projected majority, and the Liberals are projected to win. It is one of the fastest collapses of polling support in Canadian history.

But it's always an election, and there is a reason we actually run them instead of relying only on polling. I have given a bit of background on the Canadian electoral system in the Parliamentary Democracy thread (https://civicswatch.com/threads/parliamentary-democracy-is-the-grass-greener.27/#post-393), and my concerns are fundamental to the system, so it could still go any which way.

Here is the 2021 results -- 338 seats total
PartyLeaderVote %Seats
LiberalJustin Trudeau32.6%160110
ConservativeErin O'Toole33.7%119113
Bloc QuébécoisYves-Blanchet7.6%3225

GreenAnnamie Paul2.3%27

The column Seats is the number of seats acquired by 'First Past the Post."

The last column in red would have been the number of seats if allocated by popular vote.
The Conservatives would have has 3 more seats than the Liberals, the Greens more favourably represented, with the NDP yielding a considerable balance of power ( rather than below the Bloc ).

The polls right now say Liberal majority. The Conservatives would need a considerable poll lead to win a majority - guestimating 10-15% lead, but the pundits would, or should know how much, better than I.

Since this community came about, I’ve become aware that Canada has its own non-trivial polarization problems. I didn’t realize this article was written by American until the last paragraph.

She is getting a bad rap.
The article is opinion propaganda.
Canadian politics is east-west, with predominance from central Canada - Ontario, Quebec.

When Quebec gets 'nationalistic', nary a peep from the establishment.
When Alberta does it, she is labelled a traiter, and a betrayer.

Ford, and his Team Canada, blew up in his face. Team Canada approach was to sacrifice Alberta economy, with threatened oil embargo to the US. and a possible carry through. Ford would hailed as a tough Canadian 'hero' with no repercussions from his own electorate, all the while Alberta's would devastated. Oh, gee, too bad, Alberta, Take one for the team.

Ford tried again to reel in D. Smith with his bantering of compromising electricity exports to the US. Implications such that if he is willing to 'sacrify' energy exports, than so should D. Smith with energy oil.
She was having none of it. Instead chose to amplify to the US that Alberta is open for business ( and so is Canada - where is betrayal in that one may ask. ) . Ford on the other hand got a smack down by the US to cut hid rhetoric, which he has done - less escalation.

Trudeau was escalatory.
Carney is more level headed ( He does less of a consult with Ford thus no panic ).

Alberta was the only province for a time within Canada that removed trade barriers.
Then, 2010 - The New West Partnership Trade Agreement (NWPTA) is an accord between the Governments of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba that creates Canada's largest, barrier-free, interprovincial market.
Notice NO Ontario. Not as progressive, and very protectionist

Now, with Trump tariff, removal of barriers for all provinces across Canada makes the news.
Why. Auto Industry 25% tariff. One of the main sectors of the economy of Ontario. Along with the steel and aluminium tariffs, mainly Ontario and Quebec, panic in central Canada.

Setting the record that Smith, nor Alberta, protecting their own economy as they should, should suffer from ad hominim labelling, the same way Trump attempts does to his detractors.

Hanging out with PragerU and Ben Shapiro is not protecting anyone's economy.

It's just being a traitor.

Canadian politics can be greater than purely East vs. West. I am in Saskatchewan and I echo every sentiment of the article that I linked.

Anyone who aligns themselves with the circus of reactionary anti-liberals is a threat and has to be treated as such. We know their ambitions extend beyond their borders with the connections that Thiel, Vance, Bannon, Musk, etc. have been forging (and funding) with the AfD, Hungary, Farage, and Danielle Smith. They'll use anyone, whether as a witting accomplice or as a useful idiot stooge. And while I think that Danielle Smith is an idiot, I don't think she is unwitting about exactly what she is doing

Take Back Alberta, which provided huge funding in the last Alberta election has faced massive elections law fines and is currently in a lawsuit fighting to not disclose its funding sources.

Edit:

Our scumbag premier (who killed a woman drinking and driving) backs Danielle Smith.

I think that Danielle Smith is an idiot,
Some of the things she has done are quite lame, such as going to Trump inauguration. This trip to PragerU, money not well spent for little return, as that gangs mind's are quite set, and they all do not think as one. But I stand, as I have said above.
Who else was there of self-importance,
Ben Shapiro we know.
The other influencers that I have watched:
Charlie Kirk and his Christian beliefs
Tucker Carlson we all know
Matt Walch scary to watch
Candice Owen - incoherent, maybe as she and Ben had a falling out over whose religion is the best
Big crowd I bet.

Sask eh.
We;re just about brothers. I m oved out east long time ago.
Some of the hockey league teams round Quill lake always get into fights, and dirty play.

Take Back Alberta. I kind of remember the so called ' grass roots ' push to get rid of Kenny. Small, but vocal, but it worked.

PS Are they the ones now pushing the separation narrative? A bunch of doinks.

@EricDMMiller and @dlu Thank you both for your narratives on Canadian politics. It really disheartens me to see what the Orange Buffoon and his minions have inflicted upon what used to be a great relationship between our countries and upon your internal politics with respect to this idiotic 51st state nonsense.

51st state not a big issue. Canada/US were already economically, socially intertwined, but not polically.
Well, the annexation, joining of Canada or parts, has always been around but never showing any signs of any fruition of accomplishment. The 13 colonies way back in the 1750's had a clause in the Council of Confederation, that if Quebec wanted to join, they would be freely admitted, in contrast to other areas which would have to apply and be vetted.

Trump just said it aloud, cuz maybe there would be a chance, why not give it a try, fan the embers and see what happens. And people freaked out Ford especially went nuts on it. Most premiers of provinces had the ho-hum attitude , what next on the agenda.

Of course, someone, will say, he threatened invasion, ...... Ho-hum.

I have to say that I agree with Vlad Vexler that Trump is a symptom, not a cause.

Since the 1990s, we have seen extremist populism and oligarchic power concentration in extra-national entities rising around the world, while democratic liberalism has been in retreat.

Trump is causing trouble for us here. Trump is not the source of all of the trouble here. As you can see by the actions taken by our internal political parties, the same sickness that has affected US democracy has also taken root here.

One of our former Prime Ministers, who was decent by the estimation of the age - Stephen Harper - is an active participant and organizer in the anti-democratic, populist network that is undermining matters globally. He is the current chair of the International Democracy Union ("IDU").

As an organization, their current and former members have included Orban's Fidesz Party, Modi's BJP, Poland's Law and Justice Party, and of course, the US Republicans.

We also have Russian money flowing into our media and influencers, and one of the biggest talking heads for Dugin in western nations is actually a Canadian:

For some background on Millerman, please see:

He now gets work translating Dugin's books into English, publishing his own works with an extremist "Eurasianist" publisher, running a YouTube channel, and an online "school."

And while I think that Danielle Smith is an idiot, I don't think she is unwitting about exactly what she is doing
She is an idiot.
And if you think she is a traitor, it is not to Canada in itself, but to the Conservative and Poilievre in this election campaign.
She blamed Trumps' tariffs as being a help to Carney, but one has to notice that some of her actions and speech rub off on to him. She could have got behind Poilievre, not going out on her own.
Letters to Quebec, excessive demands, trips to odd places --> stay quiet Smith.
Now you get a joker coming out not helping the federal conservatives -->Preston Manning<-- in jurisdictions other than Alberta.

Stupid stupid dumb conservative infighting.

So what's this about.
It's something I would have expected to happen under Conservative rule, definitely Harper, maybe Poilievre, but not under the Liberals.
Cutting back on science seems odd for them, especially anything to do with the climate.

Not an election policy anywhere.
I put the post here due to being about Canada during the election.

Canada will no longer cover travel costs of experts it nominates to UN's climate science body

Liberals caught spreading Disinformation to try to associate the Tory's with Trump.
They bragged about it, and the devious plan revealed by CBC.
Seems as if the Liberals are being more 'Trump' than honest.

Spread of fake campaign pins 'disgusting,' says senior Tory

Louis-Philippe Lampron, a law professor with Université Laval, said it's no surprise that a federal leader has proposed invoking the notwithstanding clause, given its increasing use in recent years by premiers such as Quebec's François Legault. Legault has used the clause to partially shield secularism and language laws from court challenges — and used it pre-emptively in both cases.

Election 2025: Carney and Singh push back as Poilievre vows to use notwithstanding clause

Poilievre's pledge to use notwithstanding clause a 'dangerous sign': legal expert

These demonstrations unfold in Canada n the same manner as other jurisdictions, where no arrests made to the protesters for assault to bystanders. Instead, bystanders are accused of provoking the crowd.

Here the Montreal police take down a female independent journalist filming the protest.
No Journalism in Canada! Montreal Police Beat & Arrest Female Journalist for Documenting Rally!

Ottawa recently had a 'parade' that was several blocks long with loud drums and chanting slogans of some sort.

A decent breakdown on why Poilievre campaign isn't just resonating with more Canadians.
His attack dog style might have something to do with it.
The election, imo, is the Liberals to lose.

Doug Ford Breaks His Silence & Criticizes Pierre Poilievre's Campaign

There was talk of Ford wanting to grab the Conservative leadership.
With Poilievre loosing his seat, a resignation would pave the way for Ford, who is setting it up if the resignation, or push out, so happens.

Here he trumpets one of Poilievre talking points about being tough on crime as it is Ford's idea.
He had to wait 1 day just after the election, but not during.
The guy is pure slime.

Here it is described the bad bloood between federal and Ontario Conservatives,
I wonder how that feud really came about.

If we needed any indication that Canada just made the right choice, here it is.

1000108550.webp

Also, what a damn clown. Did he have a rage-based stroke halfway through his tweet? Is he working on a fourth political mathematical theory now?

What the hell does any of the following mean?

Geopolitical necessity of assuring northern territories × ideological opposition to Trumpism

∎ Canadians = Ukrainians

What a fucking clown.

Interesting to note that he isn't saying Canada = Ukraine. He isn't implying that Canada is not legitimate in the same way that Ukraine is not legitimate (according to the insane Russian rhetoric). He is implying "kill Canadians the same way we are killing Ukrainians."

Edit:
As a source for my interpretation of Dugin's implication:

In the early stages of the Moscow-instigated war in Donbas in 2014, Dugin told Russian state television that "Ukrainians need to be killed, killed, killed."

The same year, Dugin said on the VK social network that "Ukraine needs to be cleansed of idiots. A genocide of cretins is a given."

So, the final line in his tweet should properly be read as:

Canadians = Ukrainians = kill, kill, kill

Doug Ford at it again.

Randall Denley: Ontario is finally forcing out DEI from schools and universities

Ontario has a big problem in education with the DEI inmates running the show. I guess they Ford gov't has had enough, and attempting to return education back to education.
I think this has a lot to do with the Trudeau era now a fading memory, and politicians can get back to doing stuff that matters to the population. Less to do with imitating Trump.

DEI at first glance in not at all that difficult program. Society has been doing it for years, maybe even before the 1900's.
But the DEI crowd took advantage, and nuff is enuf for Ford.

I will put this here rather than start a new thread.
It says something about NDP policy run amok, being out of touch with the aspect of democracy, their rules and procedures violating anti-discrimination, the deliberate inclusion of trans-woman ( did they really have to write that down and say it ), positing woman as non-men, yet limiting men to a secondary class to woman.
The NDP is wholly erratic in their thinking.

NDP Goes INSANE - Decides to DISCRIMINATE Against It's OWN MEMBERS, Yet Preaches DEMOCRACY

A serious case of DUI being institutionalized in politics.
Those 2 believe what they are saying. Most people are disgusted with this type of mis-guided social engineering as a way forward to the future.
