And, overnight. My belief is that this will never see the light of day. It takes a decade or more to create a new ship class so it won't be here any time soon. I'm sure that the Navy doesn't want a boondogle of a ship like this with fantasy weapons like lasers and rail guns that have never been productionized on any ship.

Both the US and china actually have active railguns on some of their dedicated naval vessels, but I agree that they probably mostly do it because they can. Apparenrly it doesn’t even stop there
