SUMMARY

The ongoing protests in Iran have escalated into significant civil unrest, with revolutionary guards reportedly shooting at demonstrators and widespread destruction of guard buildings. The country faces a dire economic situation exacerbated by severe drought conditions, which have been attributed to corruption and bureaucratic failures. The unrest has spread across multiple cities, indicating a nationwide discontent with the current regime. Historical patterns suggest that the Iranian leadership has previously weathered similar crises, raising questions about the potential outcomes of this turmoil.

  • Knowledge of economic indicators and their implications in geopolitical contexts.
  • Awareness of environmental issues, particularly drought management and its socio-political impacts.

NEXT STEPS
  • Research the impact of drought on socio-political stability in Iran.

  • Investigate the role of foreign interference in shaping Iran's economic conditions.
  • Explore the historical context of previous Iranian revolts and the regime's survival strategies.

There are huge groups of people in the streets.
Revolutionary guards shooting protestors.
Really bad economy.
Really bad drought.
This has spread to many cities.

Guard buildings are being burned down.

TMI (too much information)

I can't keep up with everything that is going on in the world.

I'm not sure they have a bad economy.
They have the 2nd largest natural gas reserves.
Their 'bad economy' may be due to foreign interference and propaganda.

I have been monitoring the news on their drought.
That seems serious, if true.

In any event, I hope they come thru this current turmoil. Kind of like us.

It is extremely difficult to get rid of a dictatorship, and I think you're a bit too optimistic. Not that I wouldn't hope you are right, but I think it's a bit early to party. Letting pass the end of dictatorships before my inner eye, I see a terrible war, the thread of an exodus, an economic collapse paired with inner, political weakness, a brave new monarch, assassinations, or replacements by military dictatorships.

The only threat to Iran these days is the drought in my opinion. It is something you cannot change. The reason for its severity is corruption, negligence, ignorance, failed maintenance, and bureaucracy. Neither of which can be fixed quickly by any administration.

Iran's ayatollahs survived quite a few riots in the past. Let's wait and see. At least the standard answer of despotisms to inner threats, beginning a war, seems currently out of reach. But I wouldn't bet the USA wouldn't do them the favor!

Interesting...

Quod erat expectandum.

This happens when you make the dumbest person you can find, who doesn't even know the very basics of politics, let alone history, and who is unable to listen to anyone other than sycophants, your commander in chief. Uniting people under an external threat had always worked!

Ba tashkar.

The protests in Iran and getting larger and more deadly:

Too bad the Pahlavis might make a comeback, but could be awn improvement.
