SUMMARY

The European Union has expanded its sanctions list to include three journalists—two German nationals and one Turkish journalist—who have reportedly not aligned their reporting with the EU Council's perspective on the Ukraine-Russia war and Hamas demonstrations. These sanctions, which include asset freezes, restrictions on economic transactions, and travel bans within the EU, have raised concerns about media freedom and the potential for authoritarian control reminiscent of historical fascism. Notably, these sanctions were imposed without court authorization, complicating any potential recourse for the affected journalists.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of EU governance and sanction mechanisms
  • Knowledge of media freedom and its historical context in Europe
  • Familiarity with the Ukraine-Russia conflict and its implications
  • Awareness of the role of social media in shaping public opinion
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the legal framework governing EU sanctions and their enforcement
  • Examine case studies of media suppression in historical contexts, particularly in relation to fascism
  • Investigate the impact of social media on political discourse and public perception in Europe
  • Explore the current state of press freedom in EU member states
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for journalists, political analysts, historians, and anyone interested in the intersection of media freedom and political authority within the European Union.

Technocrat unelected official signs off to sanction 3 journalists who do not report the way the EU council sees the world regarding Ukraine-Russia war and the Hamas demonstrators. According to the presenter, the Truth department of the EU has expanded the sanctions list for Russians to include 2 Germain journalists ( one of which has not reported for 2 years ), and a Turkish journalist who uses a platform with Russian inclinations but reports next to nothing about Russia.
Sanctions include - freezing of all assets, disallowance of economic transactions with the sanctioned individual, prohibited travel within the EU ( really - Germain national cannot travel to Germany ).

According to the individual of the cast, this is one of the factors on how Hitler and Nazism developed control of the country 90 years ago ie control the media and what is truth.

Trouble for the journalists, especially the 2 Germain nationals, is that no court has authorized the sanctions, so any recourse and reversal would be difficult to achieve.

Any thoughts?

Russians. Not Germans.

I think this is a Trump effect. It gives his friends permission to be more brazen.

I did exist in Europe long before Trump. Mainly in the former USSR satellite countries, but not only. We had Berlusconi in Italy, now Meloni, there is a far too strong national movement in Germany, Marine Le Pen in France now, before her was her father, Geert Wilders in the Netherlands. The list is, unfortunately, long.

Trump is quite irrelevant in Europe. Most of us know that he is just a silly idiot and cannot be taken seriously, even if our politicians have to pretend something different. It's the high number of refugees from Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine that bothers people and drives the right-wing parties.

Why didn't this all happen before Trump then?
I don't think it's directly related to Trump, and more on the fact that the extreme right has learned than more and more idiots get their news from Instagram, Twitter, influencers, etc.
They don't attend to credible information sources and they have zero critical analysis capabilities the result is the firmly believe everything is the fault of immigrants and that vaccines were designed to control us...
It's only because of this that a bubbling orange manipulator has managed to get elected twice in the US.
These people know how to talk to the stupid passive couch masses with single digit IQs.
Remember Obama and his intelectual reasoning? Well that is exactly the opposite of what the voting herd understands.
