SUMMARY

The "No Kings Protest" held on October 18th saw participation from over five million individuals across more than 2,100 cities in the United States, marking it as one of the largest coordinated protests since the beginning of the second Trump administration. Organizers, including the American Civil Liberties Union, reported significant turnout, with estimates ranging from 4 to 6 million participants. The event aimed to protect democracy and raise awareness against governmental overreach, coinciding with the "National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk." Despite the large turnout, media coverage remained limited, prompting discussions on the effectiveness of such protests.

Damn, It's everywhere! Mexico, Europe, India, even in the middle of nowhere in the Pacific!

There is one less than one hour from my house, but I don't have a passport to cross the border. I never been in a protest in my life so I'm not sure I would be there anyway, but if I had to choose a cause to be in a protest, this seems to be the right one.

I will surely watch for the outcomes of this protest. Especially that it will happen 4 days after the "National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk".

I'm planning to go to one of the local events on Saturday. In true bougie fashion, I bought a protest sign off of Etsy which should be here in a day or two.

Following on my previous post, it seems that the "National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk" did not have a big impact; nothing to reach the news, anyway.
There are a lot of "national days" that congress creates. I thought that it was disgusting of course but didn't see it as anything more than National Ice Cream Day or International Bacon Day.

I've signed up for the event at a site that is just over a mile from my home. I would rather go to the ones in Washington DC but my wife is afraid of the Gestapo. Gotta keep her happy so this is the compromise.

They haven't moved on.
I thought the town had been secured.

Today is a big day and Trump knows it. If you can't attend a No Kings rally today then still do your part by talking to your family, friends and community about how to protect democracy.

and always contact your reps often

I don't have a link but I heard that the turd posted a picture of himself wearing a crown last night. SMH.

I went to an event that I thought would be relatively small, but it got a good turnout. We got a lot of support from people driving by, honking their horns, waving to us, or holding up their own signs, and then there was the rare Trump supporter who would flip us off as they drove by.

I saw one flipper also. We also had a truck with teenagers drive past a couple of times waving trump posters. It didn't slow the crowd down one bit.

Nice turnout, but I'm surprised it didn't make the news bigger than this (I'm outside the USA).

Turnout

Organizers estimated that more than five million people participated in more than 2,100 cities and towns across the country, according to statements by No Kings and the American Civil Liberties Union, a co-sponsor of the protests. Politico estimated turnout in the millions and described them as the largest coordinated protests since the start of the second Trump administration.

A crowdsourcing effort to tally participation was led by data journalist G. Elliott Morris, who wrote on June 15 that "back-of-the-envelope math" put total attendance "somewhere in the 4–6 million people range. That means roughly 1.2–1.8% of the U.S. population attended a No Kings Day event somewhere in the country yesterday."

The 3.5% rule is a concept in political science that states that when 3.5% of the population of a country protest nonviolently against a government, that government is likely to fall from power.
