That's one thing I never understood about American politics. The tendency to come up with denigrating nicknames for your political opponents. From this side of the pond it comes off as very childish.
Yes, but given the childish, amoral, stupid behaviour and speeches from many of them, it could be excusable. I mean, how long would an American politician survive in Europe, considering the absurdities, lies, and even racist comments they exude? I don't think they would politically survive their first interview.

Our chancellor is currently under pressure for:
The journalist noted that the AfD [right extreme nationalists] was now polling above 30% in Brandenburg and elsewhere. He therefore asked Merz: "What is your program, what is your approach, or what do you intend to do to solve this problem?"

"We've made significant progress on migration. In this federal government, we reduced the figures for August 2024 and August 2025 by 60% compared to the previous year, but of course, we still have this problem visible in our cities, and that's why the Federal Minister of the Interior is now working to facilitate and carry out deportations on a very large scale. This must be maintained; it's been agreed upon within the coalition."

This remark resulted in demonstrations and heavy uproar in parts of the society. Now compare that with what ICE is actually doing! Not to mention "eating pets", "criminals" etc., which was heard from American politicians!
