SUMMARY

This discussion centers on reported issues and bugs related to the styling and notification features of a forum platform. Users, including @Klystron, have identified inconsistencies in the "light" and "dark" mode settings, particularly when using Chrome on Windows 11, where selecting "Light" results in a dark screen. Additionally, users have experienced problems with notification alerts and filtering of new posts, which automatically reverts to unread posts upon page refresh. These issues highlight potential compatibility problems that need addressing for improved user experience.

Please report any issues or bugs you find. We're still deep into configuration and it will take some weeks to become a well oiled machine.

Are the "light" and "dark" style variations the wrong way round? If I select "System" or "Light", I get a dark screen with white text. If I select "dark", I get a white background with black text. I was expecting the opposite. (I'm using Chrome on Windows 11 and my system setting is "light").

Post #17 - @Klystron reports no notification when I tagged him.

When I select the link for New Posts, it automatically filters to just display Unread posts. I remove the filter when it appears but if I refresh the page, the filter re-inserts itself. I'm only refreshing the page to see if anything new showed up but I still want to see all of the new posts including the ones that I've read. Yes, I'm an admin and could *probably* change it somehow but I'm new to this software and would rather that @Greg Bernhardt weigh in on it so that I don't break something else.

EDIT: Never mind. I found the filter selection that fixes it. Just leaving this here in case someone else needs to figure it out.

I did receive notification for this. Difficult to ascertain which of the three inclusions triggered an alert. No reason to include the entire sequence. Inline "reply" only includes the text you select.

Is this an appropriate place to report this? I found it's the same on my Android tablet; "light" mode (or system setting with light mode) gives a dark background and "dark" mode gives a light background. If it is a bug, then there are obviously some compatibility issues with fixing it after this much time!

yeah I'll look into this, thanks!
Still seems the wrong way round, but today I'm seeing a glitch with some text becoming hard to read against a dark background (in what was meant to be "light" mode) in the following post starting with the words "only political" for the rest of the line. Somehow that text is coming out black regardless of style variation:

What's with this black on grey print?
I have seen it before once or twice>

This is from the Collection of worrying incidents thread.

The code (retrieved by pressing "reply" is

For that a certain interest and attention span is required. And for most of the "public" and most of the time it's just not there. Thus no opinion just bleating.

It cannot be seen in the bright display mode (black letters on a white background). So who inserted the color tags? I have also seen it twice or thrice.

@Patxitxi This is happening to your posts, I think. Its odd that it always happens to the final few lines of text in your posts - do you have any idea where this formatting is coming from?
