SUMMARY

The forum discussion centers around Donald Trump's presidency, highlighting his controversial remarks and actions during a Women's History Month event at the White House on March 26, 2025. Participants express disappointment in Trump's behavior, comparing him unfavorably to past presidents like George W. Bush and Richard Nixon. The conversation critiques Trump's lack of empathy and his perceived incompetence, particularly in foreign relations and health policy. The discussion also touches on the broader implications of his presidency on American trust and political integrity.

USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for political analysts, historians, and anyone interested in understanding the dynamics of contemporary U.S. politics, particularly in relation to leadership, public trust, and the role of humor in political critique.

Dan Rather (a major force in the news some years back) has some choice words, or rather, a little proverb for President Donald Trump.

“When a clown moves into a palace he doesn’t become a king, the palace instead becomes a circus." — Turkish proverb,

Trump's TIME interview clearly shows major cognitive dysfunction. There is overwhelming, objective evidence that he is mentally unfit to exercise predidential authority safely. Inability to follow a narrative, his rambling, disconnected answers, his reliance on slogans rather than argument, and his factual incoherence.

A formal neurological and psychiatric assessment would almost certainly find significant deficits, particularly in executive function, working memory, topic maintenance, and logical reasoning.

It is deeply irresponsible that these symptoms are not being addressed at the institutional level.

I like to refer to F60.8 because it is the most obvious one. But you don't need to be a neurologist to diagnose him with several disorders.
I recognized F60.8 from articles and comments from medical professionals writing in NYT and WaPo, notably back in Trump's first term. The undeniable fact that such a visibly compromised person holds major office after demonstrated incompetence first term, speaks reams about our inadequate selection process.

F60.8 describes billing codes that medical professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists and gerontologist use to document personality disorders. The most pernicious such disorders such as Narcissism expressed over a lifetime, are not easily amenable to treatment. This Mayo Clinic aritcle advises
Treatment for narcissistic personality disorder is talk therapy, also called psychotherapy.
Inherent in succesful psychotherapy, the subject must be able to establish clear trusted communications with therapists, even more so in group talk therapy, with other people. Of a long list of suggesed therapeutic behaviors
  • Recognize and accept your actual abilities, skills and potential so you can tolerate criticism or failures.
Prima facie disqualifications annent therapy.

The undeniable fact that such a visibly compromised person holds major office after demonstrated incompetence first term, speaks reams about our inadequate selection process.
No, I disagree. We have a perfectly good selection process, what we do NOT have is an intelligent electorate. Most people don't want to be bothered by facts and reasoning, but are more amenable to emotional "reasoning" and, lacking good critical thinking skills and/or the time/interest to apply same even if they do have it.

That normally keeps the kooks out, BUT ... The Donald is just a staggeringly good con man / demagogue and our electorate is not equipped to handle someone who lies so blatantly and (to them) convincingly.

Way too complicated!

Theorem: Trump suffers F60.8.

Proof:

As his approval rating sinks, Trump wants investigations into pollsters

Quod erat expectandum.

This is all so ridiculous that it is even hard to laugh about.

Trump complained to Bezos before Amazon said it scrapped idea to display tariff cost

The White House on Tuesday slammed Amazon for reportedly planning to display the cost of President Donald Trump’s tariffs next to the total price of products on its site.

“This is a hostile and political act by Amazon,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters.

Comment: I can hardly believe how much stupidity is being publicly displayed here. It's so stupid that it wouldn't even make it onto a satirical show here, let alone that we wouldn't allow ourselves to be ruled by such characters.

"Blame the messenger, not the message." Does that really work in the USA?

Trump boasted in an Atlantic magazine interveiw:

... on a German satire site, wasn't a joke?

I don't think this needs a translation, but here it is:
Impressed after visiting St. Peter's Basilica: Trump wants Vatican to be 51st state.

Seems Dunning-Kruger has no specific ICD code.

Will they ever stop lying?

Hegseth announces he’s ending Pentagon involvement in Trump initiative empowering women championed by Ivanka Trump and Rubio

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Tuesday he was ending the Defense Department’s Women, Peace and Security program, which he termed a “Biden initiative” and that was enacted by President Donald Trump in his first term, championed by his daughter Ivanka Trump and based on a law co-sponsored by Secretary of State Marco Rubio when he was a member of the Senate.

And how in the world can politicians who are constantly lying about nearly anything remain in charge? Isn't there something called an opposition?

Trump sounds like a deranged, demented, idiot all the way through. He's the most coherent when he is threatening someone.

He needs to be in a care home.

I often think this: If you ignore, just for a second, what doesn't even come close to being grasped by me anyway in all its cruelty and inhumanity, the Holocaust, what remains of Hitler is a traitor and, in the words of the Nazis, a "people's pest." This means: even in the abstruse world of the Nazis themselves, Hitler should still be seen as the greatest catastrophe of all.

This, too, is a parallel to the current situation in the USA. Even if you ignore the inhumanity of individual acts, he is still a traitor to his own people, who simply cost billions of dollars.

Trump broke his oath the moment he spoke it.

It felt like hearing him yammer on would make the stupid rub off and make one dumber. I turned it off after about fifteen minutes.
That's generally why I can't listen to anything that he says. Between the outright lies and the incoherency, it's enough to put one in a straightjacket from listening to it.

Project 2025 coming to life.
USA be prepared for more BS from the likes of the architects for the 'sanitized' future of you country.

Several Project 2025 members surround Trump, the spokesman, in cabinet.

US Politics

Two-thirds of Germans can imagine a boycott of US products

In the survey, 5,000 people aged 18 and over were asked the question:
Could you imagine a boycott of US products?

Approximately two-thirds (69 percent) of Germans answered this question with a yes.

For one in four respondents (25 percent), this is out of the question.

Among all respondents, the oldest group, those over 65, is particularly enthusiastic about a boycott. 78 percent of this age group voted for a boycott.

Support was lowest among 18- to 29-year-olds and 40- to 49-year-olds, at 62 percent and 63 percent, respectively.

German news magazine (tends to be conservative).

What a weird question. There must be something lost in translation.
Let me check it. I used Google Translate. It remains by that version, even with a back-and-forth translation, and I don't see anything weird. What is wrong with it? It is a question about intentions. Whether they will actually boycott US-American products is a different topic. 55% named US food chains as the first example that came to their minds. Only 18% would boycott cosmetics. I boycott McDonald's, too, and mainly MARS.

I can imagine turning into a dragon. It just has no meaning whatsoever. 25% of the population must be clinically dead if it is out of the question for them to imagine anything.

To be clear, the translated version says:

In it, 5,000 people aged 18 and over were asked the question: Could you imagine a boycott of US products ?

It is a standard verb in German for questions. It is used not to set a knife on people's breast by asking "will you". A direct question can be understood as being suggestive, the indirect version avoids this unintended bias in the answers.
