Here's Mr. Empathy as a person collapsed during a press conference. Completely bored indifference.

Lawrence O'Donnell of MSNBC put it well - the image should be the official portrait of his second term.

I don't know whether the phrase can be translated, but in German, I would say that everything about this person is extremely unappetizing.

Extremely distasteful would probably be the phrase.
German allows the distinction between "unappetitlich" (unappetizing; too eerie even to touch/mention/speak about/eat) and "geschmacklos" (distasteful; vulgar/not funny/without taste)

Kanzi, a 33-year-old bonobo, has shattered almost everything we thought we understood about animal intelligence. He recognizes more than 3,000 spoken English words and communicates using a lexigram keyboard of over 500 symbols — forming sentences, expressing wants, and even sharing feelings.
But language is only the beginning.
Kanzi can cook, start fires, play Pac-Man, and create music, moving through tasks with a curiosity and creativity that blur the boundaries between humans and the animals we so often underestimate.

Just saying.

[...] I am inclined nay forced to conclude He has no empathy and is more concerned with his wealth/power than anything. I believe that his first-term health programs were just politically expedient.

I strongly suspect that anything he does, from one second to the next, is based on political expediency.

In the end, the cause of any of his actions is narcissism. The factual goal of the current administration is simple corruption, i.e., to make as much money as possible, for himself, and the ones he aims to gain respect from, e.g., investors of Argentinian bonds. This, in return, is also motivated by his narcissism.

I refuse to believe that it is more complicated than this. A man with the vocabulary of an eight-year-old and the smartness of a crying baby certainly does not have any deeper intentions than that.

Not content with illegal killings of Venezuelans in boats, Trump is finally ready to start in on the Democrats.

Don’t know whether to laugh or cry. So refusing an unlawful order is punishable by death, or is it the recommendation to do so (that is: encouraging the troops to follow the letter and spirit of the law and refuse being used as SA-sturmtruppen) which is punishable by death. He is very confusing.

Someone once said that lying requires a good memory but if you just dont’t care (like the blob) that quickly becomes academic.

Trump now wants to pardon the former president of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, convicted of taking bribes and partnering with cocaine traffickers, as he orders the destruction of Venezuelan drug boats and accuses its president of drug trafficking. So what is Trump getting? Look for a Trump Tower coming soon in Tegucigalpa.

Trump previously said.
"We're going to be asking everyone who sells drugs, gets caught selling drugs, to receive the death penalty for their heinous acts, because it's the only way"

What is Maduro waiting for? He must have an available building site in Caracas.

Trump is signing a peace plan with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the United States Institute of Peace, recently renamed the Donald J Trump United States Institute of Peace. It has been mostly empty since the DOGE assault, symbolic, I think, of Trump's peace initiatives.

It isn't. I saw an interview in which he said he liked to be pope. This insult to a human being IS as dumb as it appears.

Just saw, top message on hourly news: Vance criticized that our courts have ruled that our right-wing party may be called right-extreme. Can any of you US-Americans please explain to me why a vice president of the USA dares to criticize German court rulings? And you wonder why the USA is considered as being imperialistic, that aims to impose its crude world view on others? Such things make me angry, and partly anti-American. It is simply not tolerable! Who is he that he can teach us (our courts!) who we call a Nazi? And why does he only bother about Nazis?

Speaking of criticizing German law, I seem to remember that the definition of manslaughter in German law is still based on Karl Roland Freisler's definition. He might have been competent but also very very unsympathetic. Remember Sophie Scholl?

But I'm just yanking your chain here. I hardly disagree with anything you say. :)

EDIT: Wow. Talk about unsympathetic. Judge, jury, prosecutor in one. 90% guilty verdicts! 5000 death sentences! Kangaroo-court indeed!

Why would he apologize when this is exactly the kind of behavior that his ignorant, racist base wants?

IIRC the only thing he ever apologized for was the grab-the-pussy thing, and that looked like a hostage tape.

The White House response was imo about the worst walk back. Saying an aid was responsible for the post implies that we can't know which Truth Social posts actually come from POTUS. So his Truth Social account is like the E-pen on steroids.

I haven't seen anything about it here (lost in all the other crimes) but he's also suing the IRS for $10 billion for allowing his tax returns to be released. He has actually joked about the fact that he will be the one who decides the payout. If he wants money so bad, I would vote to give him $100 billion if he would just leave and never come back.

I can't find the article that I read this morning but it basically said that Trump isn't bragging about the Kid Rock alternative half-time show because there's video of attendees at Mar-a-lago watching the Bad Bunny one. LOL.

I really enjoyed the BB show - my only complaint is the audio was not very good. I found it impossible to discern any lyrics - I'm not making a joke about them being in Spanish, in case anyone wonders, the sound was not mixed right, according to me - the vocals needed more relative gain vs the instrumentals. But that nitpick aside - really great show!
