There are some obvious factors like Trump has sociopathic admiration for autocrat control and that Trump wants more buildings in Russia, but there must be others we don't know. There was some reporting that Russia has been grooming him since the mid 80s. Maybe they have kompromat?

Of the two original DOGE guys, one, the smart one seeing the writing on the wall, got out early. Musk, on a euphoria high thought he was making a difference, but denied access to each and every dept. His 2 trillion became a lowly 100 billion from the low hanging fruit.
He is a little teed off on not having the reduction of the deficit as the primary goal of the new admin, rather than agenda 2025 and cronyism, which he didn't frown upon when given the chances. So he is a doink, and feels like one if he has some back reflection. He still 'owes' Trump around a 100 M what he promised during the election.

The scary thing is that we can't rule these things out. We really can't be confident Trump is doing anything in the best interest of the country. Especially as we get closer to 2028, we'll have to see everything through the lens of "how does Trump gain".
