SUMMARY

The ongoing protests in Iran have escalated due to severe inflation, currently at approximately 40%, and other socio-economic issues such as pollution and lack of economic growth. Merchants initially began closing shops in response to these challenges, leading to widespread dissatisfaction with the regime. Experts like Karim Sadjadpour from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace highlight the absence of a clear successor to the Ayatollah, with demonstrators calling for Reza Pahlavi, the former Shah's son. The potential for U.S. intervention raises concerns about foreign influence and its impact on the protests.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Iranian socio-political history
  • Knowledge of economic indicators, specifically inflation rates
  • Familiarity with the role of external influences in domestic protests
  • Awareness of key figures in Iranian politics, such as the Ayatollah and Reza Pahlavi
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the historical context of the 1979 Iranian Revolution
  • Examine the effects of inflation on social unrest in various countries
  • Investigate the role of social media and communication blackouts in modern protests
  • Analyze the implications of U.S. foreign policy on Middle Eastern stability
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for political analysts, historians, and anyone interested in Middle Eastern affairs, particularly those studying the dynamics of protests and regime change in Iran.

Israel going rogue

It's like everyone is ignoring the international conventions, the Geneva Convention etc.... It's complete lawlessness....

EDIT: Still, there are no nuclear weapons in space..... but let's see though.... they just need those titanium telephone poles.

EDIT2: Well OK, tungsten rods but yeah.

EDIT3: There's no known defense.

Project Thor was an idea for a weapons system that launches telephone pole–sized kinetic projectiles made from tungsten from Earth's orbit to damage targets on the ground. Jerry Pournelle created the concept while working in operations research at Boeing in the 1950s before becoming a science-fiction writer.

EDIT5: "ortillery".

Textbook Article 54 Geneva Convention violation.

The United States carried out strikes on the southern cities of Jask and Sirik and on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, after what Washington said was Iran’s downing of a US Army Apache helicopter over Gulf waters.

The strikes damaged two reservoirs supplying the Bemani and Kouhestak areas of Sirik town.

“Unfortunately, following this attack, 20,000 residents of the region have lost access to safe drinking water, and with temperatures ranging between 45 (113 degrees Fahrenheit) and 50 degrees Celsius, conditions have become extremely difficult and critical for local inhabitants,” Iran’s state television quoted local water company officials as saying.

Attacking this form of infrastructure can't even be remotely justified as dual use. It is purely to cause substantial harm to a civilian population.

Strikes early Wednesday destroyed what appears to be a drinking-water facility on Iran’s southern coast, near the Strait of Hormuz, according to an analysis by The New York Times. Around the time of the strikes, the U.S. Central Command said in a post on X that it had conducted attacks near the strait “with precision munitions from U.S. Air Force and Navy fighter jets.”

The guy was stuck in an unimaginative loop.
Why not use real telephone poles, or better yet used railway ties/
A thousand flaming missiles coming your way would freak out any enemy.
( And no they poles would not burn up on the way in, but charcoal up in the same manner as a heat shield )
